Día a día va en aumento el número de personas que requieren servicios de Salud Mental, por lo que se necesitan profesionales que estén capacitados en enfermería en Salud mental en los servicios de urgencias, para así poder atenderles y canalizar la ayuda necearía para la evolución de su alteración.

Normalmente es habitual que los pacientes que padecen patologías psiquiátricas sean tratados más en los Servicios de Urgencias y Emergencias que en los departamentos de Salud Mental, especialmente en las primeras etapas de los trastornos o crisis.

Como profesión de urgencias en mi ejercicio de la profesión este hecho ha quedado patente, pues en numerosas ocasiones se ha atendido un paciente psiquiátrico con una crisis en urgencias.
