La mejora de la seguridad del paciente es hoy en día un movimiento global que permite aunar como nunca antes las competencias de profesionales sanitarios y pacientes para transformar los sistemas de salud utilizando la seguridad como punto de entrada.

Las prioridades son compartidas a escala mundial, europea y nacional, y la premisa común es reducir el riesgo de daño innecesario asociado a la atención sanitaria a un mínimo aceptable.

Este escenario dicho “mínimo aceptable” está en relación con nuestra capacidad de:

  • Implantar prácticas seguras, explorando nuevas fórmulas;
  • Desarrollar modos que permitan aprender de la experiencia;
  • Compartir los progresos, acelerar las mejoras y propiciar el trabajo en red.

Podemos decir, en síntesis, que el actual movimiento para la seguridad del paciente trata de replantear tres ideas:

  • Mejorar la seguridad es simple (buscando esquemas que hagan de la práctica segura la opción más probable).
  • Lleva 2 minutos (facilitando instrumentos para su implantación) y
  • De los aciertos se aprende (buscando intervenciones que manifiesten el papel protector que juegan los profesionales sanitarios).

En el curso se muestran, a modo de microespacios formativos, que podemos apreciar en el pasado reciente, cuál es la “epidemiología del error” en nuestro días, y cómo se está reconfigurando el abordaje de la seguridad del paciente, a partir de la identificación de historias de éxito y tendencias de futuro en el modo de implantar prácticas seguras.
